Are the Wilhelmina Mints suitable for Halal consumption?

Not all Wilhelmina Mints are suitable for halal consumption. Please check the ingredient declaration on the package to be sure if a product contains gelatine or not. For more information about gelatine please check ”What are the actual facts about gelatine in candy?”

Are the Wilhelmina Mints suitable for vegetarians?

Gelatine is an animal protein that is used in many products (E.g. Cheese cake, pudding, fruit juices, marmalade, cookies, beer, medicines etc.). For some of the Wilhelmina Mints this ingredient is necessary for the binding strength of the product. At this moment there are no plant substitutes for gelatine. Vegetarians or people who are affiliated with a particular religion and want to avoid gelatine can always check the ingredient declaration at the back of the package. In our Wilhelmina products we use beef gelatine.

Wilhelmina peppermint was developed in 1892 by the company Fortuin. The occasion? It was the 50th anniversary of the company, and at the same time it was an extra special tribute to Queen Wilhelmina, who was 12 years old at the time. The peppermints were such a success that we have been purveyor to the royal household ever since, and that’s something we’re very proud of. By now our other refreshing products, such as sugar hearts with text and Salmiak pastilles, have also become true staples. They are of premium quality and often vegan, and usually they come with sustainable packaging. Wilhelmina is more than just peppermint.
